by Azlan

Singapore’s largest Ultra-Marathon is back after a one-year absence!

For runners who are interested to take their running to the next level, the Sundown Ultra-marathon is the race for you! Spanning 100km for the seasoned or brave new runners, and 50km and 25km relays, this should be a race that combines elements of both physical and mental endurance that stretches beyond the standard marathon distance.

A record number of more than 1,300 runners have signed up for the fifth edition of the gruelling 100KM Sundown Ultra-Marathon which will flag off at the iconic Marina Barrage on 14 September at 6.00pm.

To spice things up, organizer HiVelocity Events Pte Ltd, has introduced new team categories for less gung-ho runners may also attempt the Ultra-Marathon in the relay category as a team of two (50km/runner) or four (25km/runner).

To enhance the running experience, HiVelocity will also be offering a variety of energy-fuelling delights at the various pit stops with delicious snacks like muffins, assorted sandwiches and even gummy bears.

Those who would like to challenge themselves can still sign up. Registration will close in less than a week’s time on  11 August 2013, Sunday.

The 84km race proved every bit as gruelling as advertised, as only 192 men and 24 women successfully completed the task of running the equivalent of two full marathons through the night. As each edition of the race drew even more hardcore running enthusiasts, Sundown Ultra Marathon upped the ante in 2011, unveiling a 100km race route that turned out even more challenging than ever.

Sundown Ultra Marathon returns in 2013 with a bold challenge to runners: Show Your True Colours. The run once again covers 100km, but with an interesting twist – distance running fanatics can now join forces or recruit family and friends to what is usually a solo pursuit. Sundown Ultra Marathon presents team categories, allowing runners to complete the race in teams of 2 (covering 50km each) or teams of 4 (covering 25km each).

Whichever category Sundown fans sign up for, they are sure to embark on a journey of self discovery. Show Your True Colours.[/expand]
